Introduction

This Blog, History of Christianity for curious people, is intended for those who grew up and were educated as Christians, and sometimes wonder why they believe what they believe. Some of you may have received religious instruction at Sunday school. In those classes you studied catechism, religious doctrine, selected Bible readings, and occasionally, "Sacred History" which was selected readings from the Old Testament. But it was very little what you were taught about the history of Christianity.

Upon entering college, I had several questions about my religion that had no answer, such as...

Why the Jews were not Christianized?

If Christianity was initially a minor Jewish sect, how it became an independent and universal religion?

How was the separation of Judaism and Christianity?

How Christians went from being a minority persecuted by the Roman Empire to be the official religion of the Empire?

Why are there so many varieties of Christianity?

I looked for books about the history of Christianity to find the answer to these and many other questions, and I found that these books are few and hard to find. The books that I could get were written by historians for historians, which makes reading difficult and sometimes tedious. However, as I read I discovered an unknown world that is almost hidden. Is not that the history of Christianity is a forbidden topic, but it almost seems that nobody wants that ordinary Christians learn about their religion history.
For years I've gone around the possibility of writing down what I learned during my readings, in a brief and easy to read way, and I finally decided that I will write online several chapters of History of Christianity for curious people.
I warn my readers that I will confine myself to strictly historical themes. I will leave theology, mysticism and religiosity to other writers. Over several chapters you will find surprising subjects, and some topics may not be liked by readers with very religious mentality. To them, I remind them that Christianity teaches that interference with the truth is immoral.

Next chapters is entitled The dawn of Christianity and The Roman Empire

The chapters published up to now can be consulted in INDEX OF PUBLISHED CHAPTERS.
